after having a blog for a handful of years (i started blogging somewhere during the 'everyone's on myspace, no signs of facebook yet' era), i sometimes worry if i'm gonna double blog... what i mean by double blog is write about the same topic twice. i'm sure i've done it, and probably more than once, especially around the holidays (pesky holidays... they come around every year and tempt me to write about them over and over and over and over and over...).
i definitely don't have any sorta preparation or planning period before writing. if i think it, and the thought doesn't fit the 140 character limit of twitter, i write it here. i'm just winging it... that being said, i never look back to make sure i didn't already write about the topic i'm about to ramble on about.
and if i did write about a certain topic before, i like to think i do it better the second time. it's like sex, i keep getting better at it and if i write about the same topic enough times, i'm totally bored with that topic.
so i probably shouldn't ever double blog, but i know i will. it's a lot like other double things... like double dipping or the double dribble.
double dipping- i'm guilty of it. and most times when i'm guilty of it, i didn't mean to do it. it just happened. i wasn't thinking. i was just going with the flow. this is mostly due to the fact that when i'm eating dippable snacks all by myself, i double dip like a mofo. it's my germs, so who cares? so whenever i double dip in the presence of other people, it's not like i meant to do it to piss everyone else off. i know it's wrong. i just got comfortable and didn't think things through for a moment and boom, same chip in the same dip twice.
double dribble- it's when you stop dribbling with the ball in basketball, stand still, and then start to dribble again. if a ref catches you doing this, you lose the ball and the opposing team gets it. i'd like to think no athlete does this on purpose knowing full well they'd lose the ball altogether if they get caught. i think most times it's due to a lapse in judgement... you just stop thinking, go with your gut, and your gut says something like "move the ball closer to the basket," and boom, whistle blows and your home crowd boos you.
i know there's exceptions with both examples above and there are some douchebags who double dip and double dribble on purpose knowing full well that's gonna piss everybody else off. but those people are douchebags and i'm not.
so don't be mad if i blogged about the idea of double blogging before. cuz that's all sorta fucked up. that's more blogging to the 2nd power than double blogging. i should get some kinda bonus blogging points for that.
